Stereoscopic 3D filming at Kitt Peak National Observatory

Staff from the Advanced Visualization Lab worked with the Department of Astronomy to capture high resolution stereoscopic 3D media and data at the two WIYN telescopes operated at Kitt Peak National Observatory outside of Tucson, Arizona.

The Advanced Visualization Lab worked with IU Department of Physics professor Charles Horowitz to create visualizations of nuclear pasta, an extremely dense substance formed when dying stars explode in supernovae and collapse into neutron stars.

The AVL was happy to host the Spring 2013 virtual reality class from the Indiana Academy on May 2, 2013. This the seventh year of this recurring collaboration between the Lab and the Academy. This year's class consisted of 14 students who worked together in groups to create 6 original virtual environments.
